Jungle Trekking and Camping

Description

A range of enjoyable forest walks can easily be arranged, catering for all levels of fitness and adventurous spirit. Indeed, just staying at the guesthouse will often allow one to experience a wide variety of wildlife, birds, butterflies and the awe inspiring leafy surrounds.

Orangutans, Thomas Leaf monkeys, white handed and black gibbons etc, can often be seen feeding in fruiting trees, from the comfort of your own verandah or the restaurant. Forest paths around the
station allow one to do a self paced wander through this unique rainforest ecology.

Anything from one day to multi week guided hikes, are all quickly organised, with experienced English speaking guides and porters. Night tours can be especially interesting. A good guide makes all the difference to what you will see. Their keenly attuned senses of hearing, sight, and smell are almost preternatural in their ability to spot and direct you to any interesting wildlife in the area.

A single trekking guest costs 1 000 000 rp/day. Two or more is 500 000 rp/day/person. This includes all meals, guide and porter/cook. In addition, the National Park entry fee is a one off 150 000rp/person.

The 3 day tour is most popular and includes a dip in the volcanic hot springs to rejuvenate tired muscles. A six day hike to Lake Marpunge is a special treat for the soul or seven days walk to Bukit Lawang gives ample time to shrug off the stresses of our so called ‘modern world’.

Excess luggage can be dropped at Bukit Lawang by vehicle for you. Very long trips are at a higher cost per day due to the increased amount carried.
